Part of the conversation among the three of us while working this afternoon...

Emily: so Hui, where do you come from?
Huibee: Malaysia
Emily: What language did you guys use just now?
Huibee: Cantonese
Emily: So Selina, 're you from Malaysia as well?
Huibee: No, she's from China
Selina: Yes.. I'm from China! (she normally talks with exclamation marks)
Huibee: But we speak the same language...
Selina: Yea Yea.. cantonese and mandarin!
Huibee: It's like.. hmm.. my grandfather is from China.. he went to Malaysia few decades ago.. (hadn't finished yet..)
Selina: Ohhhh!!! my grandfather is from China as well!!!
Huibee: (start sweating) I know that..!!
Emily: (start gigling)
Huibee: So Emily, your grandfather is from England, right?

hmm... ok la, a lame joke maybe
But if you were at the scene.. I bet you'd be laughing like we all did...
Actually it could be fun working on my floor.. especially there are some nice and playful colleagues (would be better if Alice (Gibson) comes back)
The thing is just I get bored working at the same store for such a long timee
and sometimes the management team.......... sucks!
At times they make us feel like we are slave labours -_-"
that's especially when it's extremely busy period while the store is short of staff
Anyway we have 4 weekends off after the coming weekend
so.. hmmm.. let's see what I can do to make a change after that..

刚刚看了家齐的blog

突然觉得我们在这里的theory会不会读太多 但是practical的东西太少了吧?!
虽然很多时候 practical的东西是自己寻找和争取的..
哦对了他说不要想太多 不然会sot掉 -_-"
我想我也是个想太多的人吧
所以打算减少写关于thought的东西..
多写点生活和感想.. (只好硬硬把thought 类归成daily life.. XD)

Gmail Themes

Google mail has just had their themes launched!
In the beginning I wasn't very keen on it
because I love old things, I like things that I am used to
and don't like changes as it takes time to get used to them
so after testing on a few blue and the contrast black themes
I still found the classic one suits me best
but later my 2nd bro said he likes the new themes and asked whether we try
so this morning while having a bit slacking time
I tried a few of them... and guess what
(haiya, when you see the post you should have known I found something worth mentioning)
the Ninja theme is damnnnn funny and cute la!

but being a great supporter of Google,
i always have the impression that Google normally makes things simple yet practical
and this new theme thingy slightly changed my impression
I hope this could apply to my Google calendar as well..
it looks relatively boring now.. haha..
but I hope things won't get too far too much
just keep them uncomplicated and practical

I'm not angry

I typed a furious post just now and I deleted it
I'm sure my dad wants me to be a polite girl
But I can't help feeling sad, disappointed
We were really excited
We read the reviews and imagined how it's like
We went through the photos and even looked at the webcam
to feel how it's like
We spent much time and effort to make things smooth
I talked so excitedly to my mum, sis and friends
All I want
is a YES from everyone
so that we can proceed to booking
that took them more than 1 week
and it ended up..
we have to redo everything now
I'm not angry, I say it, I mean it
But I can't help feeling disappointed
and I don't like the feeling having things redone
now I don't expect so much..
hopefully things go well

Yesterday we watched Kushi- a Bollywood movie in the World Cinema
This is my first ever time, sitting there, wathing nearly all of a Bollywood movie
OK, I'm not going to comment about it or write a review on it,
since I don't really watch romance movies, never watched Bollywood movies and didn't even finish the whole movie
BUT...

我觉得有些英国人 真的不怎么有礼貌..
那是一种文化嘛
你可以觉得它好笑,你可以批评它,你可以用你自己的文化角度去看
但是
你不可以取笑别人的文化..!!!
我不是在说那些当时候在笑的人 (我自己也是其中一个)
而是因为之前我们刚到在set up的时候
一个叫芭芭拉的英国人 (也就是建议播这套戏的人)
在... 笑bollywood movies, actors and actress, and even the advertisement..
真的觉得她很没有礼貌.. 笑声很轻蔑 =/
后来跟另一个英国女生聊 她显然.. 也在"很有礼貌地取笑" -_-"

个人觉得英国人真的是越来越退化了
却还在觉得自己高高在上.. 就只因为一些历史的背景
如今走在英国的街上
在英国人的课室里
我只会觉得他们真的只是自以为了不起的 ... [用任何你想用的词..]
单纯是看路上那些很年轻的妈妈 推着婴儿车再带着几个孩子
却在狂抽烟 不是一小部分妈妈们
而是.. 70%吧 但是在他们的lectures里
他们会说抽烟的人多是发展中国家的人... 你确定吗?!?!
当然我看到的,不是statistics and facts..
但是至少我觉得亚洲人普遍很在意"以身作则"的教育方式
我可以举很多例子来support我的话 从生活上 报章里 工作方面 或教育

YUCK..!!

P/S: 我想这篇文章至少得罪两种人 1 当然是英国人 2 是抽烟的人 反正就个人观感

it's now one month i blog here..
and im loving the interaction that i've got with my readers.. : D

cant believe that la, because i used to blog only once a month

i just read hsiangyek's blog this evening
and found his blog quite inspiring..!!
you know, the thing is he wrote just daily stuff
- his thought his feeling his work etc
some things that ehmm.. could be very boring and dull in anyone's life,
BUT, he can still make (some of) them soooo inspiring..!!
im thinking how to set him as my idol (in writing blog only la! : P)
while not losing my style
(and its still very important to write whatever i want to)
guess im not too bad in inspiring people too
because ck just told me my previous entry is spreading happinessss.. : D

A parcel

this afternoon i made myself a very delicious tuna potato salad
then heard somebody knocking on the door
wondering who that could be, i opened the door
OMG..!!! i saw a parcel!!
i knew that was mine..!! absolutely! definitely!
he started asking me my surname, initial, etc
i wasn't concentrating "cant you just give me the box and leave!!"
- nearly say that..
then he let me sign on the machine
i said "i've been waiting for it for 2 months!"
"oh? what's it?"
"ehmm.. some stuff from my family.." a smile..
from his facial expression, i know he felt my happiness!!
(and probably thinking "this job is all worthwhile now..")
hahahaha.. felt like hugging him that time..
when he left, bpeng was coming back
i showed her the box, and moved it to my room
next i called my mum immediately, thought it was just 10.30pm in m'sia
but my mum picked with a sleepy tone
.. lol.. i forgot it's now +8 not +7... -_-"

The Kite Runner

I've been reading quite many books whenever im in m'sia all these years
especially i'd borrow whatever books from my friends during summers
and the kite runner was one of them
it is the first english-language novel from an Afghani author- Khaled Hosseini (in the year of 2003)
kian told me it's nice
scanning the cover and the author
i didnt believe
but still, i started reading.. (boring ma..)
it's slighly boring in the beginning
slowly.. and.. wow..
it's awesome!!!
i'd say it was written realisticly
this is what i love
plus there were some shocking climax
(in which some of them can actually make people tear)
i love cultural thingy too
as it brought me into other's world
to see things through their cultural views
there are many nice quotes -
"There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft..."
"Children aren't coloring books. You don't get to fill them with your favorite colors"
"For you, a thousand times over."
Oh but why would i mention this book that i read about a year ago?
that's because i watched the movie at the fairtrade cinema yesterday!!

this is what happens always
that great books doesnt mean great movies!
(Harry Potter series is one of the good example, isn't it?)
BUT.. this is the exception!!
the movie is great!
hmm.. i'd say the book is still far better
but i love the movie too
i guess those who never read love it as well
it's very different from what i imagined
you know, when you read, you create scenes, you imagine how things are like
but.. hmm..
perhaps the differences are also what made me liking the movie : )
recommend it! if you have a bit of time to read

now i miss reading.. (ehmm i mean.. not academically)
feel like running away from my own and entering other's world..

perhaps scotland, maybe snow train to the Alps (france), or northern europe

while the rest of the holidays, bpeng and i should be joining laykian, limpeh and 1 of their friend
to travel around mid/eastern europe
(i suppose we will come back earlier, not right before sem 2 begins)

im not asking who's joining because first of all, nothing is confirmed, i dont know what to ask; secondly, i dont like to travel with too many people (i will only tell if you do ask)
BUT to those malaysians of UoG
i guess the trip we and jeff are planning, are open to all of you
and it'd be GREAT if we all can be travelling together during our final year in the Uni
will be lots fun, right?

i just moved my blog approximately 3 weeks ago
and now i dont feel like carry on blogging
i wonder whether thats just because im upset at the moment
i started blogging when i was form 2 or 3
and this is the 3rd blog i have got
my 2nd bro once offered me to get huibee.com (which is still available now!) and he will pay for me
but i have always been lost (and hence dont want to waste his money before im ready..)
i dont know how to blog regularly
because i used to blog only when i was down
but that made my friends worry
and i felt insecure having some not very close friends reading my blog
its very hard to control though
isn't it? very hard to control who to read and who not to
so next i blog only memorable events
trying my very best not to say too much about my private thoughts and disappointments
but i dont like describing
(i was thinking to use the word "hate" but that will be offending.. see!)
i dont want to create a blog describing solely my routine activity
even me myself dont think thats something that worth recording
why would others be interested in reading things like that?!
so i've still been lost
from the beginning of this blog,
i have been searching a direction
that suits me best, and also my readers
you know, i was quite surprised (or impressed?) who actually read my blog!
im even being quite thankful
that who actually care how im and what i think.. hehehe..

damn tired these days.. slept sooo less worked so much
